I have to be honest, it's not great. You're all over the shop and the title couldn't be worse. I very much doubt anyone connect to the club have forgotten about Carroll.

I'm sure everyone at the club and the rel fans are praying he can get a run of games under his belt and stay fit because he is an excellent striker that can play on the floor as well as in the air.

Bilic's main signing is Payet and Payet is on record as looking forward to playing with Carroll because plenty of Payet's assists were to a big striker in the form of Gignac, so it would make perfect sense for Carroll to be very much in Bilic's plans.

Re: Andy Carroll's return
A good read Mike, but I think there is too much emphasis (by many) that Carroll is limited to only playing a certain style of football - route one or only scoring headers from crosses. He has more to his game than that.

I stopped at garrulous.

Not because the article was shit, but I didn't know what it meant.

When fit he is also one of our best set piece defenders. Wins a huge amount of defensive corners.

Great player to watch when fit, and scares every opposition defence to distraction.

These are great things. And this timeless have depth when he inevitably snaps.

I think some of the comments below are a bit harsh on you Mike- I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I just hope Carroll stays injury-free for a while now as when fit he's our best striker since we were lucky enough to have Dean Ashton and Craig Bellamy (not playing at the same time though- we're not THAT lucky).

Re: Andy Carroll's return
He is forgotten though. I've not counted him as part of our team for ages and has hardly featured.

I really hope he can stay fit, last season fell away massively and that coincided with his injury.

I'm agreeing with Croe. I feel dirty.

The last signings we made . . . .plans for being without him ? If I were manager/ owner I would be thinking like that , and that's not being negative it's being realistic .

Re: Andy Carroll's return
Love all the feedback, much appreciated.

Carroll is a 'forgotten man' in the sense how long West Ham have had to cope without him. For this reason it would make sense they plan without him.

Agree about Payet. Could be a deadly partnership.

Re: Andy Carroll's return
With all the new signings there should be far less pressure on him than before

When he first arrived he made a massive difference for us.

You really get the impression that, because of our heavy reliance on having him back in the side, that he has been rushed back sooner than he should have been, which has exaserbated his problems

Let's hope this time he's coming back fully fit

Re: Andy Carroll's return
He's an absolute beast when he's fit and will be a fantastic option to have up front, especially with pace and creativity around him.

An Arsenal supporting mate summed it up for me when Carroll clattered De Gea a couple of years ago, he text me and said that 'Carroll just creates havoc'. On his day he is truly unplayable and that's probably the only thing that's been forgotten, hopefully we'll all be reminded of that again soon. It sounds like Bilic has really worked hard to get him right.

Re: Andy Carroll's return
If we would have had Sakho and a fully fit striker who was rarely missing then I'm sure with the back up of Zarate and Valencia I very much doubt we would have gone for another striker like Jelavic. I would think the same was true of Liverpool with Sturridge and his problems.

But make no mistake, Carroll can play and if we can keep him fit then he's a massive asset.

You can play with 2 up front, "3" up front or Carroll as a lone striker, he helps the defence big time and he creates so much space for his team mates, now we have serious threats like Lanzini, Payet, Valencia and the new boys that space he creates becomes so much more valuable.

If we can keep him fit he's going to be very much part of Bilic plans.

But he's got to wait his chance, Sakho is playing well, scored in the last game so for me keeps his place.

Worst thing we could do is rush him back. 15-20 mins here and there for the next month or so.

Re: Andy Carroll's return
Felt like some strung together sound bytes rather than a coherent narrative. I'm not sure you knew at the outset what point you were going to make and ended up not really making one.

Also this sentence seemed to be out of kilter with the text around it...

"Yet Kevin Nolan is a player past his best in the Premier League"

Re: Andy Carroll's return
Agree with many others on this thread too that the main thing that marks him out is that he is virtually unplayable at his best. I can't wait to get a fit Andy Carroll back in the side.

...What? If he is said to be fit to play, he should be fit for a full match.

If he can only play for 20 mins or else he gets injured, let's get rid of him to another club while he's still in one piece.
